I help people who feel dismissed by conventional medicine. Let’s get some answers.

You didn’t get here by mistake.

You’ve done everything right. You’ve seen the doctors, run the labs, followed the advice. And yet, something still feels off — your energy, your hormones, your gut, your sleep. You know your body is trying to tell you something. You just haven’t found anyone willing to really listen

At Glisten, you will be heard.

A different kind of clinician

I’m Amy Petrarca – Registered Nurse, Licensed Acupuncturist, and Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner with three decades of clinical experience, including emergency nursing at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Brigham & Women’s Hospital.

I bring the rigor of emergency medicine to the patients of integrative care. I don’t guess. I investigate. I look at your full picture — your labs, your history, your lifestyle — and I find the why behind how you feel.

Because you deserve more than “your results look normal.”

We talk.

Start with a 30-minute discovery call. I want to hear from you. What is your experience? No pressure, no commitment — just a real conversation about what’s going on for you.

How Glisten works.

We investigate.

Your deep-dive intake includes a compressive consultation, functional lab analysis, and personalized clinical recommendations with actionable next steps.

We partner in health-care.

Ongoing care designed around your goals, your life, and your needs — not a generic “one-size-fits-all” protocol.

After 45 years of being only marginally healthy, she helped me to uncover food sensitivities that no one else had been able to detect. She stayed the course with me as I launched on my path to wellness and now, three years later, I am healthier than I ever imagined possible."

—Elise A.

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

In a 30-minute discovery call, you can share what you’ve been experiencing. Whether or not we continue together, you’ll leave with greater clarity and direction.

FAQ

  • We begin with a 30-minute Discovery Call.

This is an opportunity to talk about what’s going on, what you’ve already tried, and what you’re looking for. From there, we can determine whether this approach is the right fit.

  • If we decide to move forward, we begin with a comprehensive intake and a deep-dive New Patient Encounter consultation.

This is where we take the time to understand your full picture—your history, your symptoms, your patterns, and any prior testing.

From there, we develop a personalized plan based on your specific needs.

  • A Functional Blood Chemistry panel is included with your New Patient Encounter Bundle.

The Functional Blood Chemistry panel is customizable based on what details are revealed in our New Patient Encounter visit.

  • The conventional model focuses on symptoms and will only address what is included in the “Standard of Care.”

Functional medicine is the medicine of “why?”

This approach is more comprehensive and investigative. Rather than focusing on isolated symptoms, we take a holistic approach including your physiology, your history, your environment, and lifestyle.

We focus on addressing root causes, not masking symptoms.

  • No. Insurance companies require an ICD-10 diagnosis code, and can only reimburse for what is included in the “Standard of Care.”

Functional medicine is not diagnosis-driven, and far exceeds the current Standard of Care.

    This is a private-pay practice.

This allows for more time, deeper investigation, and a more personalized approach to your care.

  • No.

My work is focused on functional and integrative approaches, including nutrition, lifestyle, and targeted therapeutic strategies.

If needed, I will coordinate with or refer you to other providers.

  • No.

The Functional medicine services are completely separate from acupuncture services that I offer.

Acupuncture is available as an optional, in-person service, but it is not required.

  • This depends on your history, your condition(s), and your willingness to make changes in your lifestyle to reach your health goals.

Some patients begin to notice changes relatively quickly, while others require a more gradual process.

This is not a one-size-fits-all approach—we move thoughtfully and intentionally.

  • To be fair, I don’t treat conditions, I treat people.

And, this being said, I work with patients experiencing complex, chronic, or unresolved health issues.

This typically involves more than one body symptom including but not limited to: fatigue, inflammation, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, thyroid, subclinical infections, skin issues, and immune system support.

My specialties include Auto-immunity and Food-sensitivity testing among others.

  • Yes, absolutely.

Functional medicine consultations are conducted remotely via Telehealth platform.

You must be a resident in the state of California.

  • If you are looking for answers, and sick of being dismissed and misunderstood by conventional providers, this may be a good fit for you.

If you are both curious and motivated, this is likely a good fit for you.

The best way to find out is to schedule a discovery call.
